The Inauguration Ceremony of Satellite Navigation and the First Editorial Meeting were Successfully Held

The inauguration ceremony of China’s first English journal on satellite navigation--Satellite Navigation was successfully held in Beijing on 22 May 2019 during the 10th China Satellite Navigation Conference. The first editorial board meeting was held the next day.  

Guests attending the inauguration ceremony are Mr. YANG Changfeng, Journal Advisor and Chief Designer of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, Academician Yang Yuanxi, Journal Editor-in-chief, Mr. ZHUANG Yan, Academic Department of China Association for Science and Technology, Ms. YANG Zixiu, Bureau of Science Communication, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Wu Haitao, Deputy Dean of Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. LIN Peng, President of China Science Publishing & Media Group Ltd, Ms. LI Xian, Director of Springer Nature Greater China, Mr. Jiang Guangzhi, Deputy Inspector of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology. Ms. Hao Weina, Director of Academic Exchange Center of China Satellite Navigation Office chaired the Journal’s inauguration ceremony that was witnessed by all participants of the 10th CSNC.

As China’ first English journal on satellite navigation, the Satellite Navigation was hosted by Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences and was supported and launched together by Scientific Committee of China Satellite Navigation Conference, China Satellite Navigation Office, Academic Department of China Association for Science and Technology, Bureau of Science Communication, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Science Publishing & Media Group Ltd (Science Publishing House) and Springer Nature.

The Journal has been assigned both an ISSN and a national journal number (EISSN:2662-1363,CN:10-1625/P2) and has been included in the “2018 China Science and Technology Journal Influence Promotion Plan (Category D)”. It’s expected to be published globally and allow for global access after the inauguration ceremony. As China’s national journal that aims for global reach, the Journal focuses on the latest theoretical developments and technological applications in satellite navigation and mainly publishes papers, abstracts and reviews on satellite navigation signals and signal processing, signal receiver, anti-interference and anti-spoofing, satellite orbit determination and time synchronization, multi sensors and integrated navigation, GNSS augmentation technology, autonomous navigation, establishment and maintenance of temporal and spatial frames, transfer of temporal and spatial frames, high-precision clock technology, earth applications, smart applications and other technological areas. The Journal aims to promote academic exchanges, lead the development of disciplines and technologies, increase China’s academic influence in satellite navigation, so as to better promote the construction, application & promotion and industrial applications of BDS and build the world’s most influential authoritative international journal.

Satellite Navigation is honored to have the both nationally and internationally famous satellite navigation and positioning expert, Deputy Chief Designer of BDS and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences—Mr. YANG Yuanxi as Editor-in-chief, Researcher JIN Shuanggen of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of Chinese Academy of Sciences as Executive Editor-in-chief, Prof. CHEN Ruizhi, Prof. Mattia Crespi, Prof. LU Mingquan, Prof. Naser El-Sheimy, Prof. WU Yuanxin, Prof. YUAN Yunbin and Prof. ZHAO Qile as Associate Editors. Also, a total of 38 top satellite navigation experts, including 17 experts from Mainland China, 1 Hong Kongnese expert, 1 Taiwanese expert, 3 German experts, 2 British experts, 2 Finnish experts, 2 Dutch experts, 1 American expert, 1 Canadian expert, 1 Italian expert, 1 Australian expert, 1 Swiss expert, 1 Polish expert, 1 Korean expert, 1 Japanese expert, 1 Austrian expert and 1 Russian expert have been invited to serve on the international editorial board, among them 7 are international academicians who are at the forefront of scientific research.

15 editorial board members from the U.S., Canada, Holland and China etc attended the first editorial board meeting. International editorial board members who failed to attend the meeting due to any reason all sent their video greetings and wishes.

During the meeting, Academician YANG Yuanxi reported on the current work of the journal and awarded certificates to editorial board members. In the report, Academician YANG specified the positioning and development goals of the Journal and introduced the makeup of the editorial board and the paper collection results of 2019. The experts on the editorial board then provided their suggestions on how to collect high-quality papers and made plans for hot topic selection and contribution solicitation. Researcher JIN Shuanggen, Executive Editor-in-chief made a summary based on the suggestions provided.

Lastly, Academician YANG Yuanxi summed up the meeting and clearly stated his confidence in the international construction and development of Satellite Navigation. Academician YANG also called for the editorial board to make more contributions when the Journal is in its early development and pointed out that he would take concrete actions to promote further construction and development of the Journal himself, so as to build the Journal into a high-level international journal and academic exchange platform in satellite navigation.
